Maxwell 10-12mm Stainless Anchor Swivel Shackle

The Maxwell Anchor Swivel Shackle is stainless steel for 10 to 12mm chain, joining the anchor to the rode.

A swivel between anchor and rode does two things. It lets the anchor rotate into the bow roller from whatever angle it surfaces, rather than arriving sideways and having to be turned by hand. It also stops twist building in the rode, which is what makes chain pile badly and jam in a locker.

A rode that lays neatly in the locker feeds out cleanly next time, and one that has piled and twisted will jam halfway through a deployment.
