The Marbles Mini Axe is 6.5 inches overall with a 2.5 inch stainless head, a 1 inch cutting edge, a wood handle and a brown leather sheath.

At 6.5 inches this is closer to a hatchet-shaped knife than an axe, and it is used with the hand right up against the head rather than swung. That suits precise work: splitting kindling to size, notching, trimming and light carving, where a full hatchet is too much tool for the job.

Stainless rather than carbon steel means it resists rust in a pack or a tackle box where a carbon head would spot within a season. A wood handle warms in the hand and dampens the vibration that a short tool transmits directly, and the leather sheath covers a small edge that would otherwise be dangerous loose in a bag.
