The Jabsco 12V Wakeboard Ballast Puppy with Reversing Switch is a compact reversible pump for smaller ballast setups. At 9 GPM it fills a typical 40-gallon tank in about five to six minutes. It has a flexible polyurethane impeller, a bronze body, and 1-inch hose barbs, and a built-in run-dry device shuts it off once the tank is empty.
The Ballast Puppy is sized for wakeboard boats with smaller sacs or tanks, and for adding ballast to a boat that came without a system. The double-throw reversing switch is included, so you can mount it at the helm and fill or empty the tank without leaving the driver's seat. Keep hose runs short for faster filling. Because it reverses, the same pump that fills the tank also drains it before you trailer the boat, so there is no second pump to install or maintain.
Test the run-dry shutoff at the start of each season. Replace the impeller if it shows cracks or wear. For bigger tanks, look at the Ballast King and SuperKing in our bilge and water pumps.
