Jabsco 12V Low Pressure Cyclone Centrifugal Pump

The Jabsco 12V Low Pressure Cyclone Centrifugal Pump (part 50840-0012) is a stainless steel circulation pump for 12-volt boats. Cyclone pumps are often used for livewell and baitwell supply, deck washdown feed, and circulating water through cooling or heating loops. It is a low pressure design, so it moves a good volume of water without building much head.

The pump body and hardware are stainless steel, and a mechanical shaft seal keeps water away from the long-life DC motor. An anti-clog impeller lets it tolerate small debris that would jam a tighter pump. It is quiet in operation, which helps when it runs for hours keeping bait alive. The 12V model draws from the same house battery as the rest of the boat, so it is easy to add to an existing well system.

Like any centrifugal pump, it needs a flooded inlet, so install it below the waterline and avoid long suction runs. Service is simple with basic tools, and the mechanical seal can be replaced when it eventually starts to weep. Fuse the circuit to the rating in the manual and use marine-grade tinned wire.
