Jabsco 12V Diaphragm Fish Box Evacuation Pump

The Jabsco 12V Diaphragm Fish Box Evacuation Pump (part 50900-1000) empties fish boxes of melted ice, blood, scales, and bait scraps that would clog a typical bilge pump. It moves up to about 19 liters, or 5 gallons, per minute through 38 mm (1-1/2 inch) ports. The diaphragm design self-primes, so it can sit above the box instead of at the bottom of it.

No inlet strainer is needed, because the large valves pass the kind of debris that collects in a fish box. It can run dry without damage, which is common at the end of a pump-out when the box is empty. The pump head rotates so the ports can face the direction your hoses need to run.

Route the discharge overboard through a through-hull above the waterline, and keep the pickup at the lowest point of the box. After a trip, run fresh water through the box and pump so fish residue does not dry inside the valves. Fuse the 12V circuit per the manual and use a switch rated for the motor.
