Icom A16 Entry-Level Handheld Air Band Radio

The Icom A16 Entry-Level Handheld Air Band Radio is a handheld air band transceiver built for student pilots. Making preflight calls to the tower on the handheld saves engine hours and fuel. It also works as a cockpit backup or for ground crew on the flight line.

It supports 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz channel spacing and puts out 6 watts PEP, or 1.8 watts carrier. A loud 1500 mW speaker keeps audio clear, and built-in Bluetooth allows hands-free use, depending on the version. The 2400 mAh lithium-ion battery runs over 17 hours, and a sit-in rapid charger is included.

It is rated IP67 and meets MIL-STD-810-G, with backlit LCD and keys for night use. It stores 200 memory channels with names, has an automatic noise limiter, side tone and VOX, and receives NOAA weather. Third-party aviation headsets connect with the optional OPC-2401 adapter.
