Description

The Higonokami SK Folder has a 1.5-inch SK-5 carbon steel blade with a folded brass handle, a friction folder closing to 2 inches. Made in Japan.

Higonokami knives have been made in Miki since the 1890s and the design has not changed. A blade, a folded brass handle, and a lever called the chikiri protruding past the pivot. There is no lock and no spring: the thumb presses the lever against the handle to hold the blade open. At 2 inches closed this is the smallest of the family, sized for a pocket alongside keys rather than for work.

SK-5 carbon steel takes a very keen edge and sharpens easily, and the brass handle develops a patina with handling that many owners deliberately encourage. Explore more Folding Knives.

  • Friction folder with no lock or spring
  • Chikiri lever held by the thumb during use
  • SK-5 carbon steel takes a very keen edge
  • Folded brass handle, made in Miki, Japan
