The Higonokami SK Folder has a 1.5-inch satin SK5 carbon steel blade hardened to HRC 60 in a folded brass handle with an extended tang, closing to 2.5 inches, with a blue leather sheath.

HRC 60 is hard for a knife at this price, and it is what lets SK5 hold the very keen edge Higonokami blades are known for. The trade is that a harder blade chips more readily than a softer one if twisted. The handle is a single sheet of brass folded around the blade with no scales, liners or springs. There is no lock: the extended tang, called the chikiri, is pressed with the thumb to hold the blade open.
