Description
The Higonokami SK Folder is a traditional Japanese friction folder that has been made in essentially the same form for over a century. The 1.5 inch SK5 carbon steel blade with satin finish is the same high carbon tool steel used in Japanese woodworking chisels and plane blades, it takes an exceptionally sharp edge and resharpens easily on a whetstone, which is why traditional craftsmen have carried these knives for generations. The extended tang serves as both the opening mechanism and the thumb rest during use, a design that is elegantly simple and completely reliable.
The brass handle gives it the warm, classic appearance that Higonokami folders are known for, and at 2.5 inches closed and 0.08 lbs it is one of the lightest and most pocketable knives you can carry. The slip joint mechanism requires no lock, blade tension is maintained by the back spring, which is the traditional friction folder design that predates modern locking mechanisms. The included blue leather sheath with swivel clip provides protection during carry and a secure attachment point for a keychain, lanyard, or belt loop. Made in Japan. Boxed.
Best for: Traditional Japanese knife collectors, craftsmen, everyday carry minimalists, gift giving, or anyone who wants an authentic Higonokami friction folder with brass handle and leather sheath.
