GROCO BS-3 2.6-Inch x 7.3-Inch Stainless Strainer Basket

The GROCO BS-3 is made for the ARG-1000 raw-water strainer, which uses a larger basket chamber than the ARG-750. Its nominal measurements are 2.6 inches by 7.3 inches, giving it a different fit from the slender BS-2. Select it by the ARG-1000 housing designation rather than treating stainless strainer baskets as universal service parts.

GROCO specifies 304 stainless steel for this replacement insert, along with an accessible lift handle for periodic cleaning. The manufacturer's ARG basket chart pairs BS-3 with the one-inch ARG-1000, while its SA-1000 chart calls for BS-4 instead. That distinction matters because the two strainer families use different baskets even when their pipe connections appear similar.

Before servicing the strainer, safely shut off its water source and confirm the interior basket can be removed. Remove grit and buildup around the basket seat, then fit the new BS-3 without compressing or distorting it. The assembly should close freely and be checked after the water supply is restored.
