Description

The GROCO ARG-1250 raw-water strainer is built to keep debris out of engine, generator, air-conditioning, and pump intake circuits before that debris can reach downstream equipment. Because the strainer sits in a working intake line, ARG-1250 is designed around easy inspection and routine basket cleaning rather than a sealed, throwaway filter. This 1.25-inch version uses a non-metallic basket, giving the installer a serviceable filter element matched to the intended strainer configuration. The clear body area also makes it easier to see when the basket is collecting material and needs attention.

O-rings seal the joining surfaces, and the one-piece molded sight glass avoids the tie rods and separate sight-glass gaskets used on older designs. The ARG-1250 mounting system lets the strainer be removed for service without tools, while bonding connections are provided on both sides of the bronze head. Threaded ports are offered in the ARG family for common marine plumbing standards, and this model is UL listed for its intended service. GROCO also uses an improved drain plug and a non-metallic cap shaped to improve the view into the strainer during inspection.

  • ARG-1250 service-friendly mounting system
  • Bonding points on both sides of the strainer head
  • Non-metallic basket for debris capture
  • One-piece molded sight glass for easier inspection
  • Improved drain plug and basket design

Install the ARG-1250 where the sight glass, cap, and basket can be reached without dismantling surrounding equipment. Support connected hose or pipe so vibration and hose weight are not carried by the strainer body, and verify the intake path is leak-free before returning the system to service. Basket condition and accumulated debris should be checked as part of normal engine-room maintenance, especially after operating in weedy or silty water.
