Description

The Gatco Ultimate 1200 Grit Mirror Finishing Hone is the last step in a Gatco sharpening progression, used after your edge is already sharp. It puts a fine mirror polish on the edge of any steel. A polished edge glides through push cuts and shaves hair cleanly.

The hone is 8.5 in long and about 1 in wide and 1 in thick. It fits Gatco's 10003, 10004 and 10005 clamp-guided systems. Gatco's guided kits clamp the knife in place and use a guide rod attached to the hone, so every stroke meets the edge at the same angle.

Use very light pressure and just a few strokes per side, since this stage refines the edge rather than removing metal. Gatco's fine diamond hone makes a good step right before it. Keep it clean so metal particles do not load up the surface. Other stones and systems are in our sharpeners section.
