Description
The Fireboy-Xintex Dual Channel Gasoline Fume Detector monitors two areas at once with automatic blower control, running on 9 to 30V DC.
Two channels is the reason to choose this over a single-channel detector. An engine compartment and a fuel tank storage area can both be monitored from one head. Those are the two places gasoline vapor accumulates, and they are usually far enough apart that a single sensor covers only one of them properly.
It does more than alarm. On detecting fumes at the lower explosive level it starts the bilge blower automatically to clear them. That matters because the dangerous moment is often before anyone is aboard to act, and a detector that only sounds a horn relies on somebody being there to hear it.
The 68 dB horn sounds alongside a visual alarm, and the square black-bezel display measures 2-5/8 inches, fitting a 2-1/8-inch round cutout. It runs from -40°F to 185°F, which covers the temperature swing an engine bay sees without false readings. Draw is 55mA nominal, 150mA peak. Explore more gas and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Two channels cover the engine bay and the tank area
- One sensor cannot properly watch both
- Starts the blower automatically, not just an alarm
- Rated -40°F to 185°F for engine bay swings
