The Defcon has a 3.25-inch satin 14C28N blade in a jade G10 handle that is milled into contours rather than left flat, closing to 4.38 inches with a liner lock, thumb stud and pocket clip.

Milling costs more than cutting flat scales, but the shaped surface locates the hand the same way each time and gives grip without the aggressive checkering that wears through a pocket. 14C28N is Sandvik's knife steel, balancing corrosion resistance, edge taking and easy sharpening rather than pushing one at the expense of the others.
