Description
The Blue Sea Systems PowerBar 1000 is a twelve-stud bus bar rated 1,000A continuous, with 5/16-inch terminal studs.
Five-sixteenths is the smaller stud size, and it is the more common one on marine cable lugs up through the middle of the range. Same 1,000A rating as the 3/8 version, since the bar itself handles the current. Stud size is about what the lugs fit, not about capacity.
That makes stud size a compatibility question rather than a performance one, and the answer comes from the lugs on the boat rather than from the ratings. Tin-plated C11000 electrical copper gives high conductivity and corrosion resistance in either version.
The stepped bus design creates two wiring elevations for a denser cable layout, and compatible fuse blocks can align with the bus elevation to remove separate connecting cables. The bar can be cut shorter for confined installations, bi-directional end caps gang multiple bars together, and stainless 8-32 screws with captive lock washers take smaller conductors. Explore more bus bars and power distribution.
- 5/16-inch studs, the more common lug size
- Same 1,000A rating as the 3/8 version
- Stud size is about lug fit, not capacity
- Check the boat's lugs, not the ratings
