Description
The Blue Sea Systems PowerBar 1000 is a twelve-stud bus bar rated 1,000A continuous, with 3/8-inch terminal studs.
Three-eighths of an inch is the larger stud size in this pair, and it is the one to check against the lugs already crimped onto the cable. A 5/16 lug will not seat properly on a 3/8 stud and a 3/8 lug will rattle on a 5/16 one. Neither makes a connection that stays tight, and at 1,000 amps a loose connection becomes a hot one quickly.
Larger studs suit the heaviest conductors, so this version fits an installation running inverter and main battery cable rather than mixed sizes. The stepped two-level design arranges conductors at different elevations for a denser layout than a flat bar allows.
It is made from tin-plated pure electrical copper, can be cut shorter for confined installations, and bi-directional end caps allow bars to be ganged as the system grows. Stainless 8-32 screws with captive lock washers take smaller-gauge wiring, and a snap-on insulating cover with label recesses meets applicable ABYC and USCG requirements. Explore more bus bars and power distribution.
- 3/8-inch studs, the larger of the two versions
- Check the size against lugs already crimped on
- A mismatched lug never stays tight at 1,000 amps
- Suits heavy inverter and main battery cable
