Blue Sea P12 Gen2 12V 40A 3-Bank Charger

The Blue Sea P12 Gen2 is a 12V 40A four-stage charger for three banks, accepting 90-265V AC, in a finned aluminum enclosure for dry mounting.

Forty amps against the 25A P12 is the difference, and it is chosen by bank capacity rather than by preference. A charger should return a bank overnight without running at its limit. For a boat with substantial house batteries or a bow thruster bank, 25 amps spread across three outputs will not finish the job by morning.

PreFloat lets each bank transition to float as it reaches charge rather than being held on a shared schedule, which is what prevents overcharging whichever bank finishes first. Charge Coordination manages Blue Sea Automatic Charging Relay state during charging so each battery gets the correct float treatment rather than being combined at the wrong point.

Battery temperature compensation adjusts charging voltage as temperature changes, and user-defined profiles cover AGM, flooded lead acid, gel and TPPL. Protection spans AC over and under voltage, battery temperature extremes, DC over-voltage, reverse polarity, surges and short circuits, with automatic restart after an eligible AC fault.
