Description

The Blue Sea Systems 9012 L-Series Solenoid Switch operates a 12V or 24V DC circuit remotely at 250A continuous, with hermetically sealed contacts.

Hermetically sealed contacts make the switch vaporproof, and combined with ignition-protected construction that allows installation aboard gasoline powered boats when mounted correctly. That is not optional on a gas boat. An arcing contact in a compartment carrying fuel vapor is the specific hazard ignition protection exists to eliminate.

The solenoid needs only a short high-current pulse when changing state, then drops to a very low holding current thanks to integrated coil control. A conventional solenoid draws its full coil current continuously while held closed, which both wastes power and generates heat all the time the circuit is on.

Current capacity varies with cable size, so the switch supports substantially higher continuous current when larger conductors are used. It handles 1,000A cranking for 30 seconds and is rated for up to one million cycles, with tinned 20 AWG control wire. Explore more bus bars and power distribution.

  • Hermetically sealed and vaporproof for gas boats
  • An arcing contact near fuel vapor is the hazard
  • Holding current drops after the initial pulse
  • Up to one million cycles, 1,000A cranking
