The Blue Sea Systems 8258 AC Analog Ammeter reads AC current to 100A on a 2-3/4 inch face, using an external current transformer.

One hundred amps covers a 50A split-phase shore service drawing on both legs, or a generator working near its rating. Matching the range to the actual service is what keeps the needle in a readable part of the scale rather than clustered near zero.

The transformer slips over the conductor being measured and supplies the small sensing signal, so the full AC current never passes through the instrument. That also means adding the meter to an existing panel does not involve breaking into the main conductor.
