Description
The Blue Sea Systems 7713100 ML-RBS is a remote battery switch for 12V systems with a Deutsch connector and manual control auto release.
Manual control auto release is the feature that distinguishes this from a plain remote switch. The switch can be operated by hand at the unit itself, and that manual setting releases automatically rather than staying latched. So a switch closed manually during service does not stay overridden after everyone walks away, which is the failure that leaves a bank connected indefinitely.
Mounting the switch near the battery and controlling it from the helm keeps the heavy cable run short, saving copper and reducing voltage drop. That is the usual reason for a remote switch, and it becomes more worthwhile the further the helm sits from the battery compartment.
The Deutsch connector is sealed and keyed, so the low-current control wiring cannot be connected wrongly and water does not track in at the plug. The harness uses a red lead for control positive to close the switch, a black ground lead and a yellow negative LED output for remote state indication. Explore more battery switches.
- Manual control releases itself rather than latching
- A hand-closed switch does not stay overridden
- Switch near the battery, control at the helm
- Sealed keyed Deutsch connector for control wiring
