Blue Sea 7046 120A 187-Series Panel Mount Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7046 is a 120 amp panel mount breaker in the 187 Series, rated to 48 volts DC.

One hundred and twenty amps typically covers a larger inverter, sized to a 2 AWG or 1 AWG run depending on length and temperature rating. Cable length is the part often overlooked. A long run needs a larger conductor for the same current to hold voltage drop within limits, and the breaker follows the conductor rather than the load.

Between the 100 and 135 amp units, this is where an inverter installation lands once it moves past the common 100 amp size. The thermal bi-metal element handles the inrush an inverter draws at startup instead of tripping on it.

Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 and 1,500 at 42, in Type III class with manual reset and trip free construction.
