Description

The BEP Marine Electronic Dimmer Switch controls incandescent lighting on 12V DC at up to 7A, equivalent to Cole Hersee 74601-01.

This is for incandescent lamps only and must not be used as an LED dimmer, which is the single most important thing to know before ordering. An incandescent dimmer varies voltage, and LEDs respond to that by flickering, buzzing or failing rather than dimming smoothly. LED lighting needs a dimmer built for it.

For a boat still running incandescent cabin, cockpit or instrument lighting it does the job simply, turning to adjust intensity from dim to full. Seven amps at 12V covers a reasonable lighting circuit rather than a single fixture.

It mounts through a small panel opening and fits panels up to about a quarter inch thick, with short 16 AWG leads supplied. The red lead goes to battery power and the white to the load, and BEP lists it as equivalent to Cole Hersee 74601-01 for anyone replacing an existing control. • Incandescent only, never for LED lighting
  • LEDs flicker or buzz on a voltage-varying dimmer
  • 7A at 12V, covering a lighting circuit
  • Equivalent to Cole Hersee 74601-01
