The BeaverCraft Spoon Carving Set includes two different knives because the outside of a spoon and the hollowed bowl require different cutting shapes. The C1 small whittling knife handles general shaping, while the SK1 spoon knife reaches into the concave bowl.
A leather strop and green polishing compound are included for maintaining the edges between sharpening sessions. The four-piece setup is focused specifically on spoon carving rather than trying to cover every type of wood-carving project.
The leather strop and green polishing compound are included for maintaining the edges after carving. That matters in a spoon-carving set because both the straight whittling blade and curved spoon knife need to stay sharp for controlled cuts.
