Description

The Barton Marine Tufnol Wire & Fiber Snatch Block gives sailors a quick way to introduce a line or cable into a block without feeding the entire length through from an end. That makes it useful for temporary leads, changing angles, and rigging jobs that need to be set up or removed quickly. The block's construction is tailored to the line or cable service described for this model rather than treating every application as the same. Its compact format makes it practical to keep aboard as working rigging hardware for cruising or racing.

The Barton wire snatch block has been developed specifically as a low maintenance static free block. The Tufnol sheave means that static cannot build up in the block and cause electrical discharge. Tufnol is a bearing-grade material so it gives a low-friction surface for the wire to run on and minimizes the number of moving components, giving it reliability and durability. The cheeks are made from marine grade 316 stainless steel as is the pin and retaining nuts. This block is ideal for commercial applications in the toughest of environments. Fiberoptic cables and wire ropes require a minimum bend radius to stop failures.

  • Safe Working Load: 350kg (770lbs)
  • Break Load: 1500kg (3300lbs)
  • Max Rope/Wire size: 10mm (3/8”)
  • Length: 190nn (7 ½”)
  • Width: 115mm (4 ½”)

For the Tufnol Wire & Fiber Snatch Block, choose a rigging point that keeps the pull aligned with the block and avoids side loading the cheeks, snap shackle, or cable groove. A snatch block is most useful when the lead may change during a passage because the line can be introduced or removed without dismantling the rest of the system.
