Description
The Barton Marine Stanchion-Mount Ratchet Block adds controlled resistance to a loaded sailing line so the crew can hold and trim with less hand effort. The ratcheting sheave provides grip in the working direction while allowing the line to run when adjustment is required. This makes the block useful in mainsheet, spinnaker, or furling-line applications where the crew needs both control and quick response. Barton Marine combines the ratchet mechanism with corrosion-resistant sailing hardware intended for repeated deck use.
Controlling the Power in Furling lines! This Stanchion Ratchet Block is ideal for removing some of the loadings for the crew when furling in the jib. The ratchet means that the sheave can be locked in place in one direction offering a friction brake against the pull of the sail. It is quick and simple to fit onto a standard 25mm (1”) guard rail stanchion. Adjustment is easy with the stainless steel clamping ring which allows mounting of the block at any angle. The Barton ball-bearing Ratchet Block is designed to be used online up to 10mm (3/8”).
- Length: 120mm/4-3/4"
- Maximum Line: 10mm/3/8"
- Width: 55mm/2-3/16"
- Tube Size: 25mm/1"
For the Stanchion-Mount Ratchet Block, set the block so the ratchet engages in the direction that resists the working load and releases in the direction needed for easing. The swivel or stanchion mount should be allowed to align with the pull rather than being forced to carry a persistent side load.
