The Attwood Surface Mount LED Docking Lights are a stainless pair 1.2 inches thick, mounting flat to the hull with one wiring hole.

Surface mounting at 1.2 inches thick is what turns this from a project into an afternoon. A recessed docking light needs a hole cut through the topsides, sealed and finished. This needs one small wiring hole and fastenings, which is a different order of work on a finished hull.

Against 55-watt halogen fixtures they draw a fraction of the power while putting out more light. That matters at the moment docking lights get used, which is usually with the engine at idle and the alternator producing little.
