Attwood Light Armor 12-LED Blue Underwater Light

The Attwood Light Armor is a surface-mount underwater light with 12 blue LEDs, overheat protection and a heat-sink cooling design.

Twelve LEDs in blue is the higher-output configuration in the standard Light Armor line, against the 6-LED versions. Output should follow transom width rather than being maximized, since more light than the hull can spread produces a bright patch rather than an even glow.

Blue suits clear and salt water, where it penetrates further than other colors before the water absorbs it. Green does better in stained or tannic water, so the color choice follows where the boat is used rather than preference.

The build resists corrosion, chemicals and UV without the lens clouding over time. Lens clouding is the slow failure mode on underwater lights: output falls gradually and nobody notices until the light is compared with a new one.
