ARCO Zeus 24V Alternator Voltage Spike Shield

The ARCO Zeus Alternator Shield 24V protects high-output alternators on 24V systems against load-dump surges, installing at the alternator terminals.

System voltage has to match, and a 12V shield on a 24V system will not work correctly. The clamping threshold is set for the system it is built for. Too low and it conducts during normal charging; too high and the spike passes through before it acts.

Twenty-four volt systems are common where high-output alternators and large lithium banks are fitted. That combination is exactly the one at risk, since a bigger alternator stores more energy in its field and produces a larger surge when the load disappears.
