The ARCO Zeus A225S Vortec Alternator with Regulator is a small-frame high-output 12V unit in GM pad-mount configuration.
The A225S is the small-frame alternator against the larger A275L, and frame size decides where it will physically fit. An engine space with limited clearance around the mounting may take the A225S where the A275L will not, and that constraint often matters more than the output difference between them.
This version is supplied with a regulator, unlike the terminal block variants sold for use with a separate one. That makes it a complete charging solution rather than one component of it, which suits a straightforward replacement.
Thermal management normally associated with larger units appears here: heat-shedding E-Coat or Cerakote, an external rectifier and dual cooling fans.
