Description

The Ancor Green 6 AWG Tinned Copper Wire is a 250-foot spool for grounding and bonding circuits, with Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding.

Green identifies grounding and bonding conductors, and that is a different job from a DC negative despite both connecting to something like ground. The bonding system ties underwater metals together to control galvanic corrosion. It is not a current-carrying circuit in normal operation, and confusing it with the negative return causes exactly the stray current problems bonding exists to prevent.

Six gauge is a substantial size for bonding, appropriate for the main bonding conductor rather than the branches off it. Tinned copper matters more here than almost anywhere, since a bonding conductor sits in the bilge by definition.

Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding routes around machinery spaces, battery compartments and panels while resisting flexing fatigue. Premium vinyl insulation stays flexible in extreme cold and resists salt water, battery acid, oil and gasoline. Explore more marine wire.

  • Green identifies grounding and bonding
  • Not the same job as a DC negative return
  • Confusing them causes the corrosion bonding prevents
  • 6 gauge suits the main bonding conductor
