Description

The Viega MegaPress 316 Cap closes a 1 inch pipe end, in 316 stainless with an FKM sealing element.

One inch is a common branch size, and capping one is usually about isolating part of a system rather than terminating it permanently. A pressed cap can be cut off and the line extended later, so capping does not commit the installation the way a welded closure would.

Three hundred and sixteen stainless is specified rather than 304 because of molybdenum, which gives it the pitting resistance that salt water demands. A cap sits at a dead end where water stands rather than flows, and standing salt water is the hardest condition stainless faces. Explore more marine pipe and fittings.

  • Closes a 1 inch branch, isolating rather than ending it
  • Cut off later to extend the line
  • 316 resists pitting where 304 does not
  • A dead end is where salt water stands, not flows
