Description

The Victron GX LTE 4G-A Cellular Modem adds mobile internet to compatible GX devices, supporting 2G, 3G and 4G in North America.

The 4G-A designation is region-specific, and it covers North American cellular bands. Victron makes other variants for different regions, so a modem bought abroad or listed without the region suffix may not connect on North American networks at all.

A built-in GPS receiver adds location tracking and geofencing when the optional active antenna is fitted. Geofencing is what alerts an owner if the boat moves when it should not, which is a different function altogether from monitoring the electrical system.

Falling back through 3G and 2G matters where 4G coverage is patchy. A boat on a remote mooring may have only marginal service, and a modem that gives up without 4G reports nothing at all. Explore more power system monitoring and control.

  • 4G-A covers North American bands specifically
  • Other regional variants will not connect here
  • GPS adds geofencing with the optional antenna
  • Falls back to 3G and 2G where coverage is patchy
