Description

The Veratron NMEA 2000 Backbone Cable is a 30 meter gray run with one NMEA 2000 connector and one open end.

The open end is the useful part. A cable with a molded plug on both ends has to be threaded through every bulkhead and conduit with the plug leading, and a plug is far bigger than the cable. With one end bare the cable pulls through first and the connector goes on afterward, which turns an awkward run into a straightforward one.

A backbone is the trunk of an NMEA 2000 network, with instruments dropping off it rather than daisy-chaining to each other. At 98 feet this is the long run, for a backbone spanning a large vessel bow to stern. Veratron notes it cannot be returned to the point of purchase, so any issue goes direct to the manufacturer. Explore more marine networking.

  • 30 meter, or 98 foot, NMEA 2000 backbone
  • One end left bare for easier routing
  • Pull the cable first, fit the connector after
  • Not returnable to the point of purchase
