United Cutlery M48 Ranger Hawk Axe with Compass

The United Cutlery M48 Ranger Hawk is 15 inches overall with a 7.25 inch black oxide stainless head, a 3.75 inch cutting edge, an OD green FRN handle and a lensatic compass.

The sharpened spike opposite the edge is what makes this a hawk rather than a hatchet, concentrating force into a point for breaching where the blade side chops. A lensatic compass built into the handle is unusual, and it means the tool covers navigation as well as cutting without a second item in the pack.

Black oxide grows out of the steel surface rather than sitting on top as paint would, so it cuts glare and slows corrosion without adding thickness.
