Uflex UP28FM Front Mount Hydraulic Helm Pump

The Uflex UP28FM is a front-mount hydraulic helm pump with 28 cc (1.7 cu. in.) of displacement. Front mount means it installs from the front of the dash. It uses a five-piston design with a ball-bearing piston race and a cast iron rotor, and it has a 3/4-inch tapered stainless steel shaft.

A built-in lock valve holds the steering where you leave it, so the wheel does not drift when you let go. An integrated relief valve protects against overpressure, and adjustable 90-degree fittings for 3/8-inch hose are included. Uflex pairs the UP28 with its UC128 outboard cylinders on midsize boats. Its front-mount design makes installation easier on many dashes, since the helm can be fitted and serviced from the front without reaching behind the panel. The UP28 is a common choice for outboard boats in the midsize range.

Fill the helm slowly with the recommended hydraulic oil and bleed the system until the wheel feels firm. Check the fluid level again after the first few trips. If your dash calls for mounting from behind, the UP28R rear-mount version is in our hydraulic steering systems.
