Spyderco Military 2 Micarta Folding Knife

The Spyderco Military 2 Micarta (C36MPCW2) pairs the Military 2's 4-inch blade with CPM Cru-Wear steel and canvas Micarta handle scales. The original Military used a liner lock, but the Military 2 switched to a Compression Lock, which is what this knife has despite what some listings show. Spyderco builds it in Golden, Colorado, and it opens to about 9.5 inches.

Its spring bar engages from the spine side of the handle, wedging the blade open against a stop pin. Closing the knife means pressing the exposed tab in the spine, so your fingers never cross the blade's path. That makes it one of the safer large folders to close with one hand. A long, straight handle gives room for a full four-finger grip, even with gloves.

CPM Cru-Wear is a tough powder tool steel with very good edge holding, but it is semi-stainless, so keep it dry and oiled. Canvas Micarta grips well when wet and develops a worn-in look over time. The long handle fills the hand, and a deep choil lets you choke up for fine cuts. Blade length laws vary, so confirm a 4-inch folder is allowed where you carry.
