The Spyderco Ladybug 3 Blue SPY27 Lockback (LPCBL3) is the Ladybug in a cobalt blue FRN handle with a CPM SPY27 blade. SPY27 is a powder steel made by Crucible for Spyderco, used mostly on sprint runs with blue handles. The blade is a 1.9-inch drop point.
Powder steels have a fine, even structure, which helps edge holding and toughness. The FRN handle has a bi-directional texture that grips in both directions. It opens to 4.38 inches and locks with a back lock.
A lanyard hole lets it ride on a key ring or a zipper pull, and the closed length of about 2.5 inches keeps it out of the way. Like the other Ladybugs, it is made in Seki, Japan, a city with centuries of blade making behind it. It is a nice upgrade for someone who already likes the Ladybug size and wants a step up in steel.
