Description

The Smith & Wesson Search and Rescue has a 6-inch black oxide coated 8Cr13MoV stainless blade with a partially serrated edge at 11.25 inches overall, a black polymer handle and a glass breaker.

The glass breaker is a hardened point at the butt, meant for tempered auto glass, which shatters under a concentrated strike where a flat blow does nothing. The serrated section handles seatbelt, webbing and clothing, which is most of what a rescue blade actually cuts, and the plain section forward keeps the controlled work.

8Cr13MoV sharpens back quickly on any stone and forgives neglect, which suits a knife stored more than used. Black oxide grows out of the steel surface rather than sitting on top as paint would, so it cuts glare and slows rust without adding thickness. Explore more Tactical Fixed Blade Knives.
