Description

The SmartPlug 50A Inlet and Female Cord Connector Combo holds the two boat-side components for converting a 125/250V shore power connection to SmartPlug, in white.

The kit covers the vessel side only: a 50A male inlet and a female cord-end connector that fits an existing compatible shore power cable. That keeps the cost down for anyone whose cable is sound, since the cord itself is usually the most expensive part of a shore power replacement.

SmartPlug uses a straight push-in connection rather than a twist-lock. The keyed body only goes in one way, which makes connecting easier in poor light, and side clips plus the inlet cover hold the plug so normal cord movement is not carried by the electrical contacts. A larger pin and clip contact area improves conduction under high current, which is what reduces the heat that loose or worn shore connections generate.

Silicone gaskets in the inlet cover and connector body keep moisture away from the connection when the parts are properly engaged. Heat at a shore power connection is the failure mode that starts fires on boats, and contact area is what addresses it. Explore more shore power kits.

  • Boat-side inlet and cord connector, keeping your cable
  • Push-in and keyed rather than twist-lock
  • Larger contact area reduces connection heat
  • Silicone gaskets seal the engaged connection
