Description

The SmartPlug Dockside Female Receptacle is a 30A 125V receptacle for marina pedestals and compatible electrical boxes.

This is dock-side hardware rather than boat-side. It goes into a pedestal or a box so a SmartPlug cordset can connect at the dock as well as the vessel. That suits a marina, a private dock or a boathouse. A boat owner buying for their own vessel wants the inlet rather than the receptacle.

Fitting one is what allows a dual SmartPlug cordset to be used, putting the locking and sealing design at both ends of the connection. The dock end sees the weather, the foot traffic and the repeated handling, so it benefits from the upgrade at least as much as the boat does.

The receptacle increases the contact area between plug and receptacle, improving power transfer and reducing the resistance that generates heat under sustained load. Heat at a shore power connection is the failure that starts dock fires, and contact area is what addresses it. Explore more shore power connectors.

  • Dock-side hardware for a pedestal or box
  • Boat owners want the inlet, not the receptacle
  • Allows a dual SmartPlug cordset to be used
  • More contact area, less resistance and heat
