The Schrade Old Timer Medium has a 2.75-inch satin stainless drop point blade in a brown checkered wood handle with nickel silver bolsters, an inlay shield, thumb stud and pocket clip, closing to 3.63 inches with a lockback.
Checkering cut into the wood as crossing lines gives the fingers something to hold where a smooth surface turns slick, a working detail on a pattern that dates to the 1950s. A thumb stud and pocket clip on an Old Timer are modern additions to a traditional frame, letting the knife open one-handed and ride high in a pocket rather than sitting loose.
