Schaefer Little Hawk Race Wind Indicator - to 8M

The Schaefer Little Hawk Race is a shortened wind indicator for boats up to 8 meters, with a mast clamp and self-tapping screws included.

The Race takes the standard Mk 1 indicator and cuts it to minimum length, which reduces weight and windage aloft on a small boat where both matter disproportionately. On a dinghy or a small keelboat, a full-size vane is heavier than the rig wants and slower to respond than the boat is.

A shorter arm responds faster to a wind shift, which is the point on a racing boat where the first person to see the shift gets the advantage.
