Ronstan 122mm Large Swivel Trunnion Snap Shackle

The Ronstan 122mm Large Swivel Trunnion Snap Shackle is a marine rigging fitting for high-articulation rigging points where the head must rotate freely and also move side to side. The 122mm trunnion model pairs its articulated head with a heavy plunger spring that provides a firm, predictable latch action. A spot-welded release ring gives the plunger a secure pull point and avoids relying on a loose split-ring connection. If access is limited, the plunger ring can be fitted with a lanyard so the release remains reachable as the trunnion changes angle.

The trunnion head adds a second plane of movement beyond ordinary swivel rotation. It can rotate through 360 degrees while also articulating side to side, allowing the fitting to follow a changing load direction more naturally. The body and hasp are investment-cast 15-5PH stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance. Grade 316 stainless steel is used for the plunger pin and spring so the release mechanism is also suited to a marine environment.

The trunnion head is useful where a conventional swivel alone cannot follow the direction of the connected load. Inspect both the rotating head and the side-to-side articulation point so neither joint becomes stiff with salt or debris.
