Description

The Ranger RD4 Second has a 5.5-inch powder coated carbon steel blade with an extended tang, a gray wood handle, a lanyard hole and a black nylon sheath. Made in the USA.

Second means a factory second, sold at a lower price because of a cosmetic flaw that does not affect how the knife works. That might be a finish blemish, a scale mismatch or a grind line slightly off true. For a working knife that is a sensible way to buy, since the flaw is by definition not structural, but it should be understood before ordering.

Carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and comes back with a file rather than needing a stone, and the powder coat protects it from rust. The extended tang runs to the butt so the pommel can take a strike without loading the handle scales. Explore more Camp and Field Knives.
