Description

The Flexcut Pro Series Roughing Knife has a 2-inch 1095 carbon steel blade at 7.63 inches overall with a flat grind and a wood handle. Made in the USA.

Roughing is the first stage of a carving, taking the blank down toward shape before any detail work begins, and it needs a longer blade than the finishing knives that follow. At 2 inches this has more edge than the detail and carving knives in the same series, which is the whole difference between them.

A flat grind puts steel directly behind the cutting edge, which resists the chipping that heavy stock removal invites. 1095 takes an extremely keen edge and strops back quickly, and the long handle gives leverage for pushing through waste wood. Explore more Wood Carving Tools.

  • 2-inch blade, longest of the Pro Series carving knives
  • Built for roughing a blank down before detail work
  • Flat grind resists chipping under heavy stock removal
  • 7.63 inches overall, made in the USA
