Two speeds is what makes a manual winch of this capacity usable. A low gear gives the leverage to start a boat moving up a ramp, and a high gear takes up slack quickly once it is rolling. A single-speed winch forces a choice between one or the other, and most of the effort goes into the first few feet.
An 11 inch crank arm gives more leverage than a shorter handle, which matters directly at 3,200 lb, and the oversized textured grip does not slip in wet hands.
