Description
The Onyx Commercial Rescue Throw Bag holds 75 feet of 3/8-inch floating polypropylene rope rated to 1,800 lb tensile, in 600 denier coated polyester.
Floating rope is the specification that makes a throw bag work. Polypropylene stays on the surface where a swimmer can reach it. A sinking line lands in the right place and then disappears below the surface within seconds, leaving someone in the water grabbing at nothing.
Seventy-five feet is a working distance for a man-overboard recovery, and the technique is to secure one end to the boat before throwing the rest. Throwing an unsecured bag means both ends end up in the water, which happens more often than anyone admits under pressure.
The vented mesh construction drains fast rather than staying waterlogged, so a used bag can be repacked and thrown again. Reflective material improves visibility, an elastic glowstick attachment covers low light, and a grab strap with buckle plus an adjustable drawcord finish the build. Explore more marine rescue gear.
- Floating polypropylene stays on the surface
- A sinking line vanishes within seconds of landing
- Secure one end to the boat before throwing
- Mesh drains fast so it can be repacked and thrown again
