The Nitecore EDC29 is an ultra-slim light with two NiteLab UHi 20 MAX LEDs, giving 6,500 lumens in LUMIN SHIELD and 400 meters in SEARCH.

The two headline modes do opposite things with the same emitters, and understanding which is which decides how the light is used. LUMIN SHIELD floods everything close at 6,500 lumens. SEARCH concentrates output to reach 400 meters at 3,000. One is for the room you are in, the other for the field beyond it.

Neither is a working mode, and the regular brightness levels below them are what most use draws on. A light producing 6,500 lumens is shedding heat faster than a slim aluminum body manages, so those modes are timed bursts by design rather than by limitation.

The OLED display gives real-time brightness, lumen output, battery voltage and remaining runtime. Voltage and runtime together are what tell you whether a light will last the job, which a three-bar battery icon never does. Dual tail switches keep controls at the rear.
