Description

The Mustang Survival Neoprene Immersion Suit for Children is a red 5mm suit with an integrated harness and a water-tight face seal.

A child-sized immersion suit exists because an adult suit on a child is worse than no suit at all. Excess volume fills with water, destroying both the insulation and the flotation geometry, and a child in an oversized suit can slip inside it entirely.

Any vessel carrying children needs suits sized for them, which is a requirement rather than a precaution. Counting the suits aboard is not enough: they have to match the people, and a family boat carrying five adult suits for three adults and two children is short by two.

Five-fingered insulated gloves and a water-tight face seal work the same way as on the adult suits. The integrated harness allows a lift from the water, and the 5mm neoprene handles flotation and hypothermia protection together. Explore more immersion suits and flotation apparel.

  • An adult suit on a child is worse than none
  • Excess volume floods and destroys the insulation
  • Suits have to match the people aboard
  • Counting suits is not the same as sizing them
