The Marbles 409 is a hawkbill, a blade that cuts best on the pull rather than the push. Its 2.75-inch mirror-finished edge sits in a textured stainless handle with a bail, closing to 4 inches.

The hawkbill curves sharply downward toward the point, working on the pull rather than the push. Rope, cord and twine are drawn into the curve where the edge traps them instead of sliding off, a shape gardeners, electricians and sailors have used for generations. Texturing cut into the stainless handle gives the fingers something to hold against, which matters on a pull-cut blade where the hand is drawing back under load.
