The Marbles 405 First Mate has a satin stainless sheepsfoot blade, a marlin spike, a can opener and a shackle key in a stainless handle with a bail, closing to 3.75 inches.

The shackle key is the piece that marks this as a sailor's knife. It is a flat driver sized to turn the threaded pin in a rigging shackle, a job no blade or spike can do. The marlin spike pries apart the strands of a laid line for splicing and levers open knots that have taken load and jammed.

The sheepsfoot blade has almost no point, so it cuts a line against a deck or a sail without stabbing through what lies beneath. An all-stainless build resists salt, and the bail lets the knife hang from a lanyard so it cannot go over the side. Explore more Traditional Knives.
